SharePoint Fundamentals Elements

The SharePoint fundamentals must be in place in order to successfully roll out SharePoint.

Each Fundamental produces a set of deliverables through the Foundation Engagement - a workshop investigating, reporting, providing assessment and assisting in putting missing or incomplete SharePoint Fundamentals in place.  If the SharePoint Fundamentals are not in place the SharePoint adoption will fail.  The Foundation Engagement for each Fundamental will cover:

1) Mission and Goals Audit: Establish that clear business objectives for the SharePoint platform are commonly understood. The objectives are:

  • Explore high-level strategic context
  • Understand the Vision for SharePoint in the enterprise
  • Understand how the Vision has been communication to the user communities

2) Installation Audit: Establish that the SharePoint platform is capable of supporting current and anticipated future demands. The objectives are:

  • Understand Mission & Goals
  • Audit Physical Architecture
  • Perform gap analysis between current environment configuration and recommended best practice
  • Recommend necessary changes to installation configuration

3) Development Audit: Ensure that SharePoint based applications are developed in line with industry best practice. The objectives are:

  • Audit bespoke SharePoint based applications
  • Audit SharePoint Development Lifecycle
  • Audit Accessibility standards
  • Review code standards
  • Review existing source code

4) Governance Audit: Ensure that an effective SharePoint Governance Framework is in place. The objectives are:

  • Explore SharePoint Mission and Goals
  • Explore SharePoint Deployment and configuration
  • Understand current information Architecture Governance
  • Understand current IT Service hosting Governance
  • Identify current perceived pain points
  • Recommend 

5) Information Audit: Ensure that an effective SharePoint Information Plan is in place. The objectives are:

  • Explore SharePoint Mission and Goals
  • Understand the Physical SharePoint deployment
  • Understand the Logical SharePoint deployment
  • Investigate Navigation and search configurations
  • Identify perceived pain points
  • Make recommendations to improve SharePoint Information Architecture

6) Adoption Audit:  Ensure that an effective SharePoint Adoption Plan is in place. The objectives are:

  • Explore SharePoint Mission and Goals
  • Identify user communities
  • Establish current usage patterns
  • Review implementation and rollout plans
  • Review user training strategy.
